Boat & Walking Tours

Lough Ree Boating & Walking Tours was founded by John Sorohan. He provides tours of the Hidden Heartlands, focusing on the beautiful Lough Ree and surrounding countryside of Lanesborough in both counties Longford and Roscommon. The company received a QQI award in National Tour Guiding in May 2023 and John completed the National Power boat Certificate in November 2023. A commercial endorsement that was required to take paid passengers was achieved in October 2024.

Electric Boat

For short river journeys or when the weather is less favourable, most tours around Lanesborough will be taken on the ‘Electric Picnic’ boat powered by an electric engine. For the longer journeys north and south on Lough Ree the cruiser boat is used. The ‘Antares 600 HB’ is a two-berth cabin cruiser with 80HP engine.
